CAHSS first Birthday!
Hello all,
CAHSS has just celebrated it's first birthday and we were joined in our celebrations by Andrew Gwynne MP for Denton & Reddish. Andrew spent time with the users of the service and had a photo opportunity with an occupant currently staying in the accommodation. The service has gone from strength to strength and has branched out even further than anticipated!
CAHSS now has a Media & Fundraising group developed by the users of the service. I will be expecting their input on this site so everyone can see the good work they are doing! Pictures coming soon!
I would like to share a poem written by a woman who has used the Accommodation. I feel it says it all about the service Stockport Minds CAHSS team provide
An ode to the Courtyard
I had a dream for a haven. A place of peace and comfort and gentle fun. Where laughter was the medicine and no one asked a hundred questions: “did you sleep?” Have you took your tablets?” where they watched you with probing eyes to judge if you laugh too loud or cry too long.
A place to share with likeminded damaged souls who have had to walk the walk of pain lost and shame, with the need to talk to people who would understand and help heal each other.
This is the place designed within my mind and heart. A healing safe comfortable space with loving details. A thoughtful consideration has made a miracle of trust. Where your feet will enter, your heart will give a sigh of relief and your mind starts to flow. To stay a while and make repairs.
The staff care for your needs, listen to your woes and gently watches from the sidelines to give you the courage to step outside again.
Please let this place spread its magic all over the realm. Do your very best in every shape and form, let it spread to all the millions of people who quietly cry out for it.
My name is Val, I was born with bi-polar to first blood cousins. My mind cracked in my 38th year to go into the insane world of the psych wards of Stepping Hill Hospital. Thank God I have found this place, it saved my marriage and lifted the burden from my family. Have faith to use your talents to keep it going.
Thanks to Val who gave permission to use this poem.
See you soon
