monday afternoon siesta needed

Mood fluctuates with time of day and energy levels. How can energy be kept up when in the low times of day, when sleep isnt possible?

As an Outdoor Pursuits enthusiast I know that energy levels are effected by what we eat and when we eat it. For a short boost of energy (say, 20 - 30 minutes) chocolate or something sugary has an almost immediate effect. For sustained, slow release energy there is nothing better than a banana.
