Recovery is being in charge of your own life and living well; developing and growing as an individual who is able to participate in full citizenship if she/he chooses.
Equality in reality and positive risk-taking should form part of recovery-focussed services in mental health. I prefer the word 'thrive' to 'recovery'.

'Recovery is about much more than having an absence of symptoms relating to emotional ill-health. It is about giving people the tools to become active participants in their own care.
Recovery means being empowered to search for a better quality of life. It means fulfilling potential, personal growth, and having a purpose in life, through inclusion alongside others in communities.
